Östersjöfonden is pleased to invite you to nominate candidates to theÖstersjöfonden Baltic Sea prize 2019. The prize is awarded annually to aperson, institution or organization which have carried out significantand outstanding contribution to the Baltic Sea environment.

Nominations are made in English or Swedish, before November 17th, 2017via the online form or PDF form found at http://www.ostersjofonden.org/text.con?iPage=12&iLan=3.

The award ceremony will take place during a solemn ceremony at May 10th ,2019 in Mariehamn, Aland. The prize winners are announced one monthbefore the award ceremony.

Östersjöfonden, based on the Aland Islands, have for almost 30 yearsrewarded persons and institutions who have acted as forerunners in theprotection of the Baltic Sea. All together more than 825,000 euros havebeen given out to more than 90 prizewinners from all around the BalticSea region. The award winner for this year was the Mana Jura campaignfor its work to draw attention to marine litter and engage the public inLatvia on this issue.

Project Industrial animal farms in the Baltic Sea Region - sustainable practices to reduce nutrient loads is a part of a long-term campaign of the Coalition Clean Baltic and Green Federation "GAJA", aiming to reduce the negative impact of large-scale animal production on the environment and local communities in the Baltic Sea Region, particularly by reducing nutrient run-off into the sea.
