News » The Final TWG meeting for the review of the IRPP BREF

25.11.2014

After a few drafts and plenty of discussion it looks like this very important document will come up with new text approved.

There are over 30 BREF documents published but the important thingabout this new and revised text is that it will come with the newBATAELs which are compulsory Emission limits for any installationpursuing an Environmental Integrated authorization. The key here is thatin the previous BREF these limits were set as references but they werenot obligatory for any facility.

Once the IRPP BREF is ready and approved, any farm in Europe will have a compulsory BATAEL also for odour emissions.

SHORT ABOUT THE PROJECT

Project Industrial animal farms in the Baltic Sea Region - sustainable practices to reduce nutrient loads is a part of a long-term campaign of the Coalition Clean Baltic and Green Federation "GAJA", aiming to reduce the negative impact of large-scale animal production on the environment and local communities in the Baltic Sea Region, particularly by reducing nutrient run-off into the sea. The project is part-financed by the European Union. This website reflects only the view of the Coalition Clean Baltic.
