2013 - International conference on manure management and valorization. December 5 - 6 2013, Bruges, Belgium.

Severalregions in and outside the EU are confronted with a highnutrientpressure and manure surpluses because of intensive livestockproduction.The different EU Member states have therefore developed andimplementedregional action plans and manure management policies in theframework ofthe EU Nitrates Directive, in order to cope with thesemanure surpluses.Manure treatment is one of the options for manuresurplus management.

Thisconference will stimulate the exchange of experiencesbetween regions onthe policy measurestaken for coping with manure surpluses, both interms of manuremanagement in a broad sense, and more specifically interms of manuretreatment.

Thisconference alsoaims to give an overview ofthe current developments andinnovations in manure treatment technologies and to explore variousvalorisation strategies for manure, like energy production and nutrientrecovery.

Thisconference is organised by the Flemish Coordination Centre forManureProcessing, Ghent University, POM West Flanders and Inagro.

Thisconference is intended for policy makers andadministrations,agricultural and environmental agencies, researchers andPhd- students,technology suppliers, agricultural end-users andagro-industry,consulting sector.

This conference is organized in the framework of the Interreg IVB NWE project ARBOR.

Project Industrial animal farms in the Baltic Sea Region - sustainable practices to reduce nutrient loads is a part of a long-term campaign of the Coalition Clean Baltic and Green Federation "GAJA", aiming to reduce the negative impact of large-scale animal production on the environment and local communities in the Baltic Sea Region, particularly by reducing nutrient run-off into the sea.
