On 12 June 2020 the IED Article 13 Forum workshop on the 2nd BREF review cycle was held online to discuss the timing, order and scope of the second BREF review cycle. The workshop was attended by 160 participants representing EU Member States, industry organisations and environmental NGOs.

The virtual meeting aimed to present a summary of the stakeholders' preliminary feedback, discussing options and possible ways forward on the scheduling, order and scope of the second BREF review cycle. The virtual meeting's results inform the Commission's thinking before an eventual decision on the prioritisation of the BREFs to review or draw up.

Article 13 of the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) requires the Commission to obtain the opinion of the IED Forum, among other things, on the work programme for the exchange of information. The last work programme for the exchange of information under Article 13(3)b of the IED was published2 in March 2019.

Based on the workshop discussion and subsequent written comments, the Commission will continue its preparation of a draft BREF work programme and consider any need for further consultation prior to presenting a proposal to the IED Forum for its opinion.
