A public consultation is open to 21st April on the ?InceptionImpact Assessment? for the EU Industrial Emissions Directive (IED),which defines Best Available Technology (BAT BREFs), which are legallyapplicable to all installations in concerned industrial sectors acrossEurope. The roadmap suggests widening the scope of the IED to includecattle farms, ?mixed farms? and aquaculture. ESPP supports this, becauseit is coherent with the inclusion already today of large pig andpoultry farms. ESPP welcomes a proposed accent on Circular Economy. ESPPalso proposes to streamline the BREF process, which today generates documents hundredsof pages long. The BAT specifications, which are relatively short andare legally constraining, could continue to be defined by the formalconsultation and adoption process, but the examples and innovationtexts, which are illustrative, could be more informal and so morefrequently updated.
