A prominent environmental activist Irina Sukhy, the founder of one of Belarus most influential NGOs Ecohome and the CCB member, was taken from her apartment in Minsk on Sunday, September 6th, 2020, and detained in custody. Irina Sukhy was charged with participation in a peaceful, allegedly illegal street mass gathering in Minsk on 3 September, while, following the presentation of evidence to the court, she was not in fact in Minsk that day. In result, the case was returned for further investigation but, despite this fact, Irina Sukhy remains in custody. What's more, the Nuclear Transparency Watch and the European ECO Forum allege that Irina Sukhy's detention is connected to her recentactivities to oppose the start of the nuclear power plant in Ostrovets.

CCB stands in solidarity with ecological activists in Belarus and supports the demands of many other organizations for an end of the persecution of environmental activists and the immediate release of Irina Sukhy.
