News » CCB report on Baltic EU Member States implementation of MSFD

11.03.2014

The MSFD is an important EU legislation for our seas. If fully andcoherently implemented, MSFD can be a powerful tool to monitor andimprove EU seas and the Baltic Sea in particular.

CCB has during 2013 worked on a joint project to review the BalticMember States implementation of this Directive. The results show a quitedisappointing level of ambition from our region and also poorcoordination among member states. Cooperation and coherent actions arethe key to reaching a better marine environment and CCB believes thatall Member States in the region can and must do better. The report isavailable in a short version and long version with detailed annexes:

SHORT ABOUT THE PROJECT

Project Industrial animal farms in the Baltic Sea Region - sustainable practices to reduce nutrient loads is a part of a long-term campaign of the Coalition Clean Baltic and Green Federation "GAJA", aiming to reduce the negative impact of large-scale animal production on the environment and local communities in the Baltic Sea Region, particularly by reducing nutrient run-off into the sea. The project is part-financed by the European Union. This website reflects only the view of the Coalition Clean Baltic.
