ManuREsource2013 - International conference on manure management and valorization. December5 - 6 2013, Bruges, Belgium.

Several regions in and outside the EU are confronted with a highnutrient pressure and manure surpluses because of intensive livestockproduction. The different EU Member states have therefore developed andimplemented regional action plans and manure management policies in theframework of the EU Nitrates Directive, in order to cope with thesemanure surpluses. Manure treatment is one of the options for manuresurplus management.

This conference will stimulate the exchange of experiencesbetween regions on the policy measurestaken for coping with manure surpluses, both in terms of manuremanagement in a broad sense, and more specifically in terms of manuretreatment.

This conference alsoaims to give an overview ofthe current developments and innovations in manure treatment technologies and to explore various valorisation strategies for manure, like energy production and nutrient recovery.

This conference is organised by the Flemish Coordination Centre forManure Processing, Ghent University, POM West Flanders and Inagro.

This conference is intended for policy makers and administrations, agricultural and environmental agencies, researchers and Phd- students, technology suppliers, agricultural end-users and agro-industry,consulting sector.

SHORT ABOUT THE PROJECT

Project Industrial animal farms in the Baltic Sea Region - sustainable practices to reduce nutrient loads is a part of a long-term campaign of the Coalition Clean Baltic and Green Federation "GAJA", aiming to reduce the negative impact of large-scale animal production on the environment and local communities in the Baltic Sea Region, particularly by reducing nutrient run-off into the sea. The project is part-financed by the European Union. This website reflects only the view of the Coalition Clean Baltic.
