The 15th Baltic Development Forum (BDF) Summit ?New Realities ? NewOpportunities? will take place in Riga, Latvia on 29-30 May. The main focus ofthis year?s event will be on competitiveness, investment and businessdevelopment and the role of the Baltic States in improving the BalticSea Region?s overall competitiveness and growth opportunities.

The annual event, bringing together more than 400 stakeholders,provides a unique platform for leaders from government, politicalparties, business, academia and civil society to discuss these issues aswell as cooperation possibilities and growth initiatives in the BalticSea Region.

Programme
The agenda will focuson growth and competitiveness in the Baltic Sea Region, with thespotlight on investment projects, not least public-private co-operation.To become smarter and greener, public-private partnerships areessential. By improving framework conditions, these partnerships? canfor instance help to focus and optimize sustainable infrastructureinvestment, which is key to kick-starting wider economic growth in theRegion, benefitting the European economy at large.

For the second year in a row, a special networking andmatchmaking arrangement ? Baltic Business Arena ? is organised forcompanies and enterprises in order to establish new cross-borderbusiness relationship and foster greater cross-border trade andinvestment. Companies and business organisations will be able to bookmeetings with each other and the possibility to consult with experts whoare competent in cross-border business relationships. It is expectedthat this event will attract over 100 companies from all parts of theBaltic Sea Region.

Project Industrial animal farms in the Baltic Sea Region - sustainable practices to reduce nutrient loads is a part of a long-term campaign of the Coalition Clean Baltic and Green Federation "GAJA", aiming to reduce the negative impact of large-scale animal production on the environment and local communities in the Baltic Sea Region, particularly by reducing nutrient run-off into the sea.
